After an up-and-down start to Billy Napier’s tenure as the Florida head coach, the Gators are going to look to take the next step forward in 2023. However, that is never easy to do, especially in the SEC.

There are two key SEC East opponents that Florida will have circled on its schedule next season, rivals Georgia and Tennessee. Now, thanks to FanDuel releasing spreads for the games, there is an outline of just how big of a task those games will be.

In both games, the Gators are underdogs.

  • +7 against Tennessee
  • +17.5 against Georgia

Florida lost to both Tennessee and Georgia in 2022. It was the first time the Volunteers beat the Gators since 2016, winning in Neyland Stadium 38-33. Meanwhile, on their way to a national championship, the Bulldogs won 42-20.

As is tradition, the Florida-Georgia game is going to be played in Jacksonville, while the Gators will host the Volunteers in 2023.

It’s also important to point out that there is plenty of time for these lines to change. Spring and Summer practices haven’t happened yet and the transfer portal will open again and potentially change the way rosters are built. So, these lines are more representative of where things are right now.

Could Florida have two players taken in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft?

CBS Sports has released its latest mock draft. In it, they make some bold predictions, including several trades and players picked ahead of where they’re currently expected to go. That includes two Florida Gators going in the first round.

First, the mock draft predicts that Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson is going to be the first overall pick. However, he won’t go to the Bears. Instead, the Colts will trade up for him. Later, offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence will be taken by the Giants at 25th overall.
