Florida baseball reveals uniforms for Game 1 of College World Series Finals
Florida will come out in style for Game 1 of the College World Series Finals on Saturday. The Gators are set to take on LSU in a best-of-three series for the national championship, and tweeted what uniforms they will wear in the opening contest.
Florida will wear white shirts and white pants with a blue stripe down the side. The front of the jersey reads “Florida” in blue cursive lettering and the numbers are in orange. The Gators will also don blue hats with an orange “F” on the front. You can view the uniform combination below.
Florida has had close calls in all three of its College World Series games leading up to the finals, winning each contest by a one-run margin. The Gators began play in Omaha with a 6-5 victory against Virginia in which they hit two home runs in the ninth inning before Luke Heyman‘s sacrifice fly won the game.
Florida then took an early 5-1 lead against Oral Roberts in the second game but had to hold off a late comeback attempt. The Golden Eagles made it 5-4 by the ninth inning and had the bases loaded twice, but the UF defense stood tall to get out of the situation both times. Then the Gators used an RBI single from Cade Kurland in the ninth inning to overcome TCU 3-2 and punch their ticket to the series final on Wednesday.
Start time for Game 1 of the College World Series Final between Florida and LSU is set for 7 p.m. ET Saturday at Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. Despite both competing in the SEC, the Gators and Tigers have yet to face each other this season. That provides some mystery as we head into Saturday’s matchup.

Kevin O’Sullivan: Extra time off puts me ‘on my edge’
Florida earned a two-day break following their berth into the College World Series final thanks to being undefeated through three games in Omaha this week.
The last time the Gators took the field was on Wednesday, meaning Florida was able to rest for over 48 hours in-between the semifinal and final series. Head coach Kevin O’Sullivan revealed why that might not actually be a positive for his squad in the long run.
“I think from a bullpen standpoint, it’s been helpful. But, honestly, from my standpoint, it puts me a little bit on my edge, honestly,” O’Sullivan said ahead of the CWS final. “Because what you don’t want your players to do is, on off days, lose their edge. There have been plenty of teams who played on that Thursday game and went on to win this last series.
“It’s really our responsibility to keep our players off edge. That’s going to be a huge message. The days off are fine, but you have to be able to turn the switch back on.”
