Florida commit Chandler Smith reopens recruitment but doesn't decommit
Orlando (Fla.) Bishop Moore Catholic four-star wide receiver Chander Smith tweeted Sunday that while he is not decommitting from Florida at this time, he will be reopening his commitment.
The announcement comes in the wake of Dan Mullen’s firing as head coach of the Gators.
“Due to the recent events I will be opening up my recruitment again,” Smith said. “This is not me DECOMMITING but I want to ensure that my future home will allow me to do both track and football.”
Smith is the No. 251 recruit in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He is the fourth-highest recruit in the Gators recruiting class after Buford (Ga.) four-star athlete Isaiah Bond, Flower Mound (Texas) Flower Mound four-star quarterback Nick Evers and Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange four-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson.
