Dan Mullen reveals the tenor surrounding this week of practice
It’s been quite a week for Dan Mullen and Florida. Wednesday afternoon, the coach talked about how practice has gone after everything.
The week got started with Mullen saying, “we’ll do recruiting after the season.” After those comments, his press conference was abruptly ended and players weren’t made available to the media.
On Wednesday, Mullen made his first comments since that interesting Monday press conference. He was asked about the week of practice during the SEC’s weekly teleconference and called it “great.”
“The one thing our guys do, our guys love to compete and they love to play and they love to work,” Mullen said. “The effort they give is awesome all the time. … I don’t think there’s anybody pleased with where we stand at this point in the season, but there’s also guys that understand that there’s a lot more football to play and opportunities to get us where we want to be moving forward, which is finding a way to win a game on Saturday. So I think it’s been a really good week of practice for us.”
Florida is coming off a 34-7 loss to No. 1 Georgia, but showed some good signs despite the score. The Gators out-gained the Bulldogs — albeit by one yard — but held their own against the nation’s best defense. Ultimately, the turnovers mounted and Georgia came away with the blowout victory.

Dan Mullen clarifies previous statements on recruiting, media blackout
The blowback regarding his comments was enormous, and many were skeptical whether Mullen’s job was secure. With questions surrounding the Gators coach, he made his first comments since on today’s SEC coaches teleconference.
“First, I’d like to touch on something for our Gator Nation, all our great fans. About something that was taken out of context in Monday’s press conference,” stated Mullen. “As it pertains to recruiting, our staff recruits non-stop, we grind at recruiting all day every day. We’re always recruiting and working the best to get great players that fit the Gators standard and bring them here to our program.
“And as I said on Monday, we’re just not going to get into the specifics of everything we do in recruiting and how we do all of that until after the season.”
Mullen emphatically let it be known that there’s nothing to worry about recruiting wise.
