According to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz, Florida is expected to hire cornerbacks coach Beyah Rasool ahead of the 2024 season. Rasool was previously with Bowling Green, holding the same position. It’s a move back to the SEC for Rasool, who does have in-conference experience as an analyst.

“Florida is expected to hire Bowling Green cornerbacks coach Beyah Rasool, sources tell @247Sports,” Zenitz said via X. “Helped Bowling Green rank fourth nationally in interceptions last year and 12th nationally in pass defense. Previously worked as a senior analyst at Arizona and Missouri.”

As mentioned, Rasool was a part of a Bowling Green cornerbacks group that created a ton of turnovers during the 2023 season. Their turnover margin of +9 was good enough for No. 13 in all of college football and the second-best in the MAC. Fourteen interceptions came from the Falcons with Rasool in charge.

Down in Gainesville, Napier had a difficult time finding turnovers for his team. Nearly a third of what Boston College did, Florida picked off opposing quarterbacks just five times. The team’s -5 turnover margin was dead last in the SEC and No. 101 overall.

Bringing in someone like Rasool gives the Florida defense someone who was a key member in one of the unit’s best pass defenses in the country last year, no matter the level played. A nice hire from Napier as he enters a critical season. Any kind of help Napier can get will help with a difficult task ahead.

Greg Sankey gives thoughts on Jaden Rashada case against Florida HC Billy Napier

Greg Sankey has commented on Jaden Rashada‘s lawsuit against Florida head coach Billy Napier.

“Well I’m not a fan of lawsuits,” the SEC commissioner said, via On3’s Jesse Simonton. “It’s not the only lawsuit involving a coach over the last year, won’t be the last. You know that you have a legal system and people have rights to pursue what they view as grievances in the legal system sorts that out.”

On November 10, 2022, Rashada signed a contract with The Gator Collective, which promised as much as $13.85 million to the highly-touted recruit over four years.

Rashada is suing on counts of fraudulent misrepresentation, fraudulent inducement, aiding and abetting fraud, civil conspiracy to commit fraud, negligent misrepresentations, tortious interference, aiding and abetting tortious interference and vicarious liability. The complaint is an unprecedented look into high-level NIL negotiations in college football.
