Smith made multiple visits to Gainesville this season, capping things off with an early December official visit. Florida didn’t offer until October, but the Gators staff worked quick to add the 6-foot-4, 195-pounder to the fold.
“Smith is an intriguing prospect to say the least. He’s tall and rangy. He can run. And, he’s new to the position. This is his first season playing safety at the high school level. Because of that, schools such as Florida think he has an extremely high ceiling,” Florida recruiting insider Keith Niebuhr wrote of Smith in November.
