Florida has a top-three football recruiting class in the 2024 cycle headlined by five-star Willis (Texas) quarterback DJ Lagway.

But the Gators — and their star QB recruit — aren’t satisfied just yet with the class they’ve built. Five-star defensive lineman LJ McCray, five-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton, and projected five-star safety Zay Mincey are all at the top of UF’s board we hurdle toward the December early signing period.

Lagway is doing his part with all three as the lead recruiter in the Gators, but he has one in particular at the top of his own wish list.

“I’ve got to be a little selfish — I’ve got to say Jordan Seaton, the offensive lineman,” Lagway told GatorsOnline.com’s Keith Niebuhr this weekend of who is his No. 1 target. “I need — I’ve gotta have protection. Man, without protection, you can’t do it. So I’m trying to get Jordan Seaton.”

The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Seaton is the top uncommitted prospect in the class, checking at No. 19 in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the nation’s top offensive tackle and aside from McCray, might be the most important target left on Florida’s board.

He took an official visit to Gainesville earlier this month and has also been to Tennessee, Colorado and Alabama since the summer. Seaton raved to Niebuhr about his visit, saying: “I can’t really put a number on it one to 10, but I loved everything about it.”

Seaton is expected to take a few more visits, including an official to Tennessee later this fall, before he makes a commitment decision.

Gators have one of their best recruiting classes in recent memory

Napier and his staff have been on fire in this class, with a group that consists of two five-stars, 14 four-stars and five three-star prospects. In addition to five-stars Lagway and Xavier Filsaime, four additional top-100 recruits are pledged to the Gators in Atlanta F. W. Buchholz four-star linebacker Myles Graham, Largo (Fla.) four-star linebacker Adarius Hayes, Picayune (Miss.) Memorial four-star EDGE Jamonta Waller and Marrero (La.) John Ehret four-star cornerback Wardell Mack.

Four-star and five-star prospects are rated as ‘blue-chip’ prospects — Florida’s class sits No. 3 nationally in blue-chip percentage at 76 percent.

Florida currently has four offensive linemen committed in the 2024 recruiting class, with four-star tackle Fletcher Westphal of Virginia being the highest-ranked of the group. Marcus Mascoll, a tackle/guard commit, is also a four-star with On3.
