Recruiting insider logs prediction for Florida to land 4-star DL D'antre Robinson
After much speculation surrounding his future in Austin, On3’s Pete Nakos reported on Tuesday evening that Orlando Jones four-star defensive lineman D’antre Robinson was indeed released from his National Letter of Intent with Texas.
Robinson committed to the Longhorns in July and put pen to paper during the Early Signing Period in December, but following the departure of Texas DL coach Bo Davis to LSU, the 6-foot-3.5, 315-pounder asked for his NLI release — which has now been granted.
Less than 24 hours after Robinson came back on the board, On3’s Gerry Hamilton logged a pick in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) for the blue-chip lineman to land in Gainesville and become a Florida Gator.
The Gators were Robinson’s other finalist when he announced his commitment to Texas in the summer. The in-state SEC school has had him on campus more times than anyone and remained a consistent player in his recruitment through the fall.
“They are still recruiting me super hard,” Robinson told Gators Online back in September. “The message is, ‘Stay home, you’re supposed to be a Gator and it’s the dream school.’ That’s the message right now.”

The addition of Robinson would be a welcomed one for Billy Napier and the Gators — who dealt with their fair share of drama recruiting defensive linemen throughout the 2024 cycle. Florida signed a pair of D-linemen in December: Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland Five-Star Plus+ DL LJ McCray and Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside three-star Michai Boireau.
Robinson is the No. 273 overall prospect and No. 28 DL in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 35 player in Florida.
D’antre Robinson Scouting Summary
“Active interior defensive lineman with readymade size and the ability to disrupt. Measured in at 6-foot-3.5, 315 pounds prior to his senior season. Has solid length and a big frame with 33-inch arms and 10-inch hands. Has a wide, barrel-chested build. Added well over an inch in height over his junior season. An active defender on Friday nights, playing for one of the top high school programs in Central Florida. Strong at the point of attack. Uses his stout build to take on and defeat double teams. Capable of making plays outside the typical defensive lineman’s range of influence. Can fight within a phone booth. Isn’t always asked to pin his ears back, but makes plays when he does.
…A light-footed mover who is capable of explosive finishes in the backfield. Able to convert speed to power as a pass rusher. Tallied 79 tackles, 10 sacks and 19 tackles for loss as a senior, showing encouraging improvement in his final prep campaign. Has the versatility to be an every down player along the defensive line and would bring good movement skills and athleticism as a nose tackle. Can continue improving his first-step quickness and constituency in his jump off the snap. Older for the cycle. May be closer to his physical and athletic upside than others with developmental body types, but presents a high floor.”
