Florida Gators gymnastics team wins 5th straight SEC title
The Florida Gators gymnastics team reigns supreme again. On Saturday, the Gators secured their fifth straight SEC championship, led by the performance of Trinity Thomas. But Florida’s finalists for the 2023 AAI award wasn’t the only one who put on a show at the event. Sloan Blakely earned the honor of being named the SEC vault champ after posting a score of 9.95 in the event. And the beam team, spearheaded by Leanne Wong, also took home the crown in their event.
Thomas continued her dominance on the season, earning a perfect 10 on the bars. And with that score, the senior gymnast completed a Season Slam. A Season Slam is arguably one of the most, if not the most, difficult feats to achieve in college gymnastics. An individual has to earn a perfect 10 on each event in a single season. And Thomas achieved hers with a string of 27 straight perfect 10 scores.
