LOOK: Florida Gators social media reacts to thrilling upset over Utah
The Florida Gators have pulled off one of the biggest upsets of Week 1 in college football after they knocked off the No.7 team in the nation, the Utah Utes, and they did it in dramatic fashion. On second and goal from the six, Utah quarterback Cam Rising was picked off by senior linebacker Amari Burney who made a spectacular diving interception. And after that exciting finish, everyone was at a loss for words, including the Gators themselves. Shortly after the game went final, Florida posted this on their social media account.
In what will go down as an epic game to start the Billy Napier era at Florida, the Gators showed they have the talent to challenge any team, especially with a star like Anthony Richardson leading the way. Richardson finished the game 17 of 24 passing for 168 yards. However, he did most of his damage on the ground with 11 carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

The importance of the win for Florida can’t be overstated
Anthony Richardson delivered a dynamic performance that showcased exactly why he’s so highly coveted by NFL scouts at the next level. He completed 17 of his 24 passing attempts for 168 yards through the air, while tormenting the Utah defense on the ground with his incredible ability to improvise with his legs. He rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries, including a breathtaking 45-yard touchdown run he had late in the second quarter.
It’s a huge win for Florida and it likely catapults Richardson into the public consciousness which could pay dividends down the line for award season. It’s early, but after a performance like Saturday night, it’s clear that every time he steps on the football field this season, he figures to be a force to be reckoned with. It’s going to be exciting to see just how far he can carry the Gators this season.
