Gators Online Show: Florida Lands Two Commitments

Geneva (Ill.) Community four-star wide receiver Talyn Taylor has continued to emerge as one of the top pass-catchers in the 2025 cycle.

On Sunday, he added another big-time offer. Florida officially joined the race for the 6-foot-0.5, 175-pounder and is now the 25th Power Four program to do so.

Taylor is the No. 82 overall prospect and No. 10 wideout in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 3 player in Illinois.

Georgia is currently trending for the blue-chipper, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Taylor has made multiple stops in Athens this spring and is set to return for an official visit on the May 31 weekend. Notre Dame, Michigan and Ohio State are also in the thick of things in his recruitment.

Last month, Taylor was one of On3’s top performers at the second weekend of the OT7 camp in Dallas. His playmaking ability caught the eye on On3 Ranking and Scouting Assistant Cody Bellaire:

“(Taylor) was ridiculously shifty and made clutch play after clutch play throughout the weekend. His body control and ability to win at the catch point for his size is fantastic. He has the rare combination of fluidity and twitch that makes him an extremely difficult cover in the intermediate levels of the field,” Bellaire wrote. “This allowed for him to paper-cut the defense throughout games and then he has the top-end speed to hit them over the top for the occasional homerun ball.”

Florida 2025 Class Breakdown

Just four prospects are committed to the Gators thus far. Two are blue-chip (four or five-star) recruits and all four hail from The Sunshine State or Georgia.

Three of the four commits have joined the fold in 2024. Headlining the quartet is Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards four-star defensive lineman Jalen Wiggins. The lone top-100 prospect in the class thus far, Wiggins is also a top-10 player at his position and one of the best in his home state.

Wiggins’ commitment came just one day after Atlanta Woodward three-star wide receiver Josiah Abdullah, who chose the Gators while also holding offers from the likes of Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Texas and more.

Tampa Plant four-star running back Waltez Clark is the longest-running commit in the fold for Napier and Co. He opted to pledge in September and is just outside the top 250 in the On3 Industry Ranking overall. The newest member of the class is Havana (Fla.) Gadsden County three-star DL Jeramiah McCloud, a former Mississippi State pledge who chose the Gators on May 2.
