Florida guard Denzel Aberdeen is entering the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. He averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists this past season for the 2025 Men’s NCAA Tournament victors.

He’s spent the past three seasons with the Gators, but Aberdeen will now move on from Gainesville. Where he ends up remains to be seen, but it’s evident he believed a change of scenery was important to him.

Denzel Aberdeen played high school basketball at Dr. Phillips (Orlando, FL), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 142 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

More on the Florida Gators, NCAA Transfer Portal

In addition to Denzel Aberdeen, Sam Alexis has also entered his name into the NCAA Transfer Portal, On3 has learned. Alexis just finished his lone season at Florida after transferring in last offseason from Chattanooga.

In total over 89 collegiate appearances, Alexis has now averaged 7.1 points (52.5% FG, 28.5% 3PT), 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 blocks, and 1.1 assists per game. That’s coming off 4.7 points (46.5% FG, 20% 3PT) and 3.5 rebounds in 24 outings off the bench, but appeared just once in the final sixteen games over the last month and a half of the season with an ankle injury, for the Gators as part of the team that just won the national championship in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.

Prior to that at Chatt, Alexis became an all-conference performer for the Mocs. He averaged 7.9 points (54.1% FG, 30.6% 3PT), 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 blocks, and 1.3 assists there in earning selections to the All-Southern Third Team, the All-Southern Defensive Team, and the All-Southern Freshman Team.

Alexis transferred last offseason as a Top-75 player and a Top-15 PF per On3’s Industry Ranking of 2024’s Top Transfer Portal Players. He’d then commit to Florida, a home state school as a native of Apopka, over schools like GeorgiaMississippi StateOle MissProvidence, and Xavier.

Florida has suffered some major losses, but they’ve also added a player in Princeton’s Xaivain Lee. He’s a Top-35 transfer and the No. 7 PG in the portal per the latest from On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players after being a two-time unanimous selection as First Team All-Ivy for the Tigers.
