Former Florida offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence reportedly took a late pre-draft visit to see the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

A potential first-round NFL Draft pick, Torrence has met with several NFL teams but this visit signals some legitimate interest in the middle of the first round. Detroit has picks at No. 6 and No. 18 overall in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft.

O’Cyrus Torrence has also visited with Pittsburgh and Washington, among other teams. Washington has pick No. 16 overall, while Pittsburgh has pick No. 17.

The Florida offensive lineman became a staple on NFL Draft boards after a fantastic lone season with the Gators. He transferred to the program in 2022 from Louisiana, following head coach Billy Napier on that path.

Torrence quickly became an every-down starter for Florida.

In fact, O’Cyrus Torrence was so good that he earned consensus first-team All-American honors, the first offensive guard in the program’s history to do so. Out of the five publications used to determine unanimous and Consensus All-Americans, he earned first-team honors in four of them (Walter Camp, Associated Press, The Sporting News, AFCA). He was on the second team for one (Football Writers Association of America).

According to Pro Football Focus, O’Cyrus Torrence was the top-rated guard in the nation in 20022 with a grade of 88.0. He didn’t allow a sack or quarterback hit during his career and didn’t allow a hurry or commit a penalty in 698 snaps this season.

More on the 2023 NFL Draft

Hosting the draftees for private workouts and top-30 visits gives teams an opportunity to get more face time with the potential picks and get to know them beyond the tape and combine performances.

The NFL’s top-30 visits are reserved for 30 prospects per team and do not involve on-field workouts. They serve as job interviews, on top of medical checkups and meetings with the coaching staff.

The 2023 NFL Draft takes place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event location this year is the plaza just outside of Union Station.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Apr. 27. Rounds 2-3 will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Apr. 28, and Rounds 4-7 will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Apr. 29. The draft broadcast runs throughout the weekend on both ESPN and NFL Network.
