New Iberia (La.) Westgate four-star defensive lineman De’Myrion Johnson received an offer from Florida on Tuesday. He announced the news over social media.

Johnson is the No. 275 overall prospect and No. 23 defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in Louisiana.

The 6-foot-3, 280-pound defender now holds 12 offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, LSU has a commanding lead for his commitment at 99.1%.

Johnson told On3’s Sam Spiegelman in August that Alabama, LSU and Texas were leading for his commitment. He proceeded to break down those programs.

Alabama: “Bama is Bama. Look at how they produce us. Look at Will Anderson, he’s gonna be the No. 1 pick in the draft. Every year they have multiple guys go in the first round … every year. No one has more first-rounders than Bama. You can look at the numbers.”

LSU: “LSU feels like home. I’ve been talking to a lot of the coaches over there and they’ve been welcoming to me and make it feel like home. I don’t even have to introduce myself to everyone; they already knew who I am. It was funnest school I’ve been to hands down and the coaches are fun, playing with you, enjoying everything with you, and having fun with you.”

Texas: “I like the Texas coaching staff. They’re amazing and welcoming, and it felt like home being in Texas,” he said of his June trip to the Forty Acres.

“Austin has a passion for football. They love the game and how they study and game-plan before games, that’s another good thing about Texas. Also, Bo Davis has put a lot of D-linemen in the league and a lot went in the first round when he was at Bama.”
