On Sunday, Florida defeated Baylor 5-3 in Game 3 of the Gainesville Super Regional and punched its ticket to the Women’s College World Series. The Gators last reached the WCWS in 2022.

Florida kicked the game off with a bang, scoring four runs through the first two innings. Florida freshman Mia Williams led the charge, swatting a two-run shot over the center field fence in the bottom of the second inning.

The hit was Williams’ first of the postseason. Despite Florida’s early lead, Baylor didn’t lie down and accept defeat. In the fourth and fifth innings, Baylor rattled off three runs, including a two-run homer from Emily Hott.

Florida struck back in the bottom of the fifth inning, taking a 5-3 lead into the final two innings. The sixth inning was silent and both teams entered the final stretch with their seasons on the line.

Florida’s Keagan Rothrock pitched a complete game, tallying 131 pitches. In the win, she only allowed eight hits while throwing three strikeouts. With the win, the Gators will advance to their 12th WCWS in program history.
