Florida putting full-court press on 5-star WR Evan Stewart
Frisco (Tex.) Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart has more college offers than nearly any other recruit in the country. But only one team has his friend and 7-on-7 teammate committed as their quarterback.
Stewart, the No. 5 overall player in the 2022 On300 rankings, has Alabama, Florida, Texas and LSU among his top four. The Gators have something the rest don’t, though: Nick Evers. The No. 147 player in the On300 has been committed to the Gators in March and posted a graphic on Friday featuring him and Stewart. The duo is pictured on a billboard with the words: “Next Stop: Championship” and a picture of the College Football Playoff national championship trophy.
The two live only 30 minutes apart outside Dallas and have previously played together during 7-on-7. They visited together for Florida’s Friday Night Lights event in July, and despite limited reps together, they put on a show.

“[I’m doing] everything possible,” Evers told Sports Illustrated’s AllGators after the event. “I’m really just trying to focus on building relationships, you already know what I can do. And [Stewart has] already seen what Florida has offer. So you know, I just want to build a connection with him and build that relationship.”
On3’s InsideTexas site spoke with a source earlier this who said they would be surprised to see Stewart land anywhere other than Gainesville. They cited his relationship with Evers and the proven head coaching track record of Dan Mullen. With just a few months until the early signing period opens, the answer of where the country’s top wideout ends up will come soon enough.
