Florida's Skylar Wallace: 'This offense is unreal'
Following the Florida Gators‘ win over the Oklahoma Sooners in the Women’s College World Series, Florida star Skylar Wallace praised the Gators’ offense.
Wallace tends to get the most attention in Florida’s lineup. That’s with plenty of good reason but she’s far from the only player deserving credit, especially in the last couple of games as the Gators have scored 15 runs over two games in the Women’s College World Series.

“I mean, this offense is unreal,” Skylar Wallace said. “We take a lot of pride in our swings, all of our work. So we’re never doubting who we are as hitters. We stick to our approaches. We make the pitchers work a lot. You could tell today, I mean, we were firing. We had nothing to lose, playing free. Making the pitchers work in the zone. When they got it, we went.”
It’s been a tale of two offenses for Florida at the Women’s College World Series. In their first two games, the Gators went 1-1, scoring just one run in the process. Had it not been for Keagan Rothrock throwing a shutout, then the Gators would have dropped both of their first two games. Since then, however, it’s been an offensive explosion, scoring 15 runs in wins against Alabama and Oklahoma while winning both games.
At one point during the win over Oklahoma, the Gators hit back-to-back home runs to grab a hold of the momentum. First, there was an inside-the-park home run by Kendra Falby who was able to make it around the bases once the ball was misplayed in leftfield. Next up was Skylar Wallace, and she ended up hitting one of her own, leaving the park for a more traditional home run.

“Just been a lot of fun playing with this offense,” Skylar Wallace said. “We’re super electric. I think that shows with the passion and trust we put into everything. I mean, it’s just a lot of fun hitting with this team. A lot of, lot of fun.”
Skylar Wallace has, naturally, been a big part of Florida’s success. She’s hitting .399 in the 2024 season with a .549 OBP and a .770 slugging percentage. She also has 14 home runs and 66 RBIs. That includes a massive two-home run performance against Oklahoma on Monday.
Now, Skylar Wallace and the Gators are going to look to repeat that performance as they get ready for a rematch with the Sooners on Tuesday.
