Georgia got off to a hot start on offense against Florida in the first half thanks in large part to its tight end usage. That proved to be the subject of a tweet from one Gators tight end.

Brock Bowers and Darnell Washington combined for seven receptions for 172 yards and a touchdown to help the Bulldogs to a 28-3 lead in the rivalry matchup against Jacksonville. Florida, meanwhile, didn’t get a reception from a tight end until the second half when Dante Zanders hauled in a four-yard reception. He was targeted once in the first half.

During halftime, Gators tight end Nick Elksnis — who’s inactive for Saturday’s game — sounded off on those numbers in an in-game tweet, listing the difference in stats.

“7 for 172 and a touchdown in the first half VS 0 for 0,” Elksnsis tweeted, along with a frowning emoji.

Elksnis, a redshirt freshman, mostly saw action on special teams last season and looked good in fall camp. However, a broken scapula kept him out of spring ball, and he’s missed time this year with an upper body injury.

After halftime, Florida appeared to find a spark on offense. The Gators scored 17 unanswered points out of the break to make it a 28-20 Georgia lead with less than three minutes to play in the third quarter.

Apparent blown call just before halftime leads to Georgia touchdown against Florida

No. 1 Georgia is blowing out its rival Florida in the annual rivalry game in Jacksonville, Fla., with a little bit of help before halftime from the officiating crew on what appeared to be a blown call for pass interference.

Inside of the final minute in the half, quarterback Stetson Bennett IV took a shot down the right sideline to receiver Ladd McConkey on third-and-10. McConkey appeared to push off Florida cornerback Jason Marshall as he separated at the top of his route, making the catch for a 30-yard gain.

But rather than flagging McConkey for offensive pass interference, the SEC officiating crew instead tagged Marshall for defensive pass interference.
