Florida's Ty Evans ties up pivotal Game 2 with solo moon shot in 2nd inning

Ty Evans belted a solo home run in the second inning over the foul pole and into the clouds, tying Game 2 of the College World Series between Florida and LSU at one apiece.
Evans took a knee-high four-seam fastball from LSU starting pitcher Nate Ackenhausen right over the plate. The Florida right fielder wasn’t sure if the ball was going to stay fair thanks to the speedy wind gusts in Omaha.
It hooked fair, and Florida jumped on the board early. Check out the moment below:
LSU second baseman Gavin Dugas is responsible for the Tigers’ first run, knocking a double into right-center and bringing home 2023 Golden Spikes Award winner Dylan Crews.
Since Evans’ solo bomb, LSU has extended their lead in the bottom of the second as third baseman Tommy White logged his 102nd RBI on the season, and then on the next at-bat first baseman Tre’ Morgan popped a sac-fly to deep left field, bringing home another run.
Can Florida stomp their way back into the game? Or will LSU run away with the national title and sweep the Gators? Tune in to ESPN now to find out.

The finalists for the award came down to LSU’s Crews and Paul Skenes, and Florida‘s Jac Caglianone. All three men, who will be prominently featured in Sunday’s pivotal CWS game, made their own case to win the award, but in the end, it was Crews who came away with college baseball’s most prestigious award.
Crews is hitting .423 on the season with 18 homers and 69 RBIs. He is also an excellent centerfielder and has already received a Gold Glove for his defensive efforts. He is also in the conversation to be the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s MLB draft.
He had the opportunity to leave school after last season but wasn’t sure of his future based on the feedback he was receiving. He ultimately withdrew and would probably tell anyone that coming back has been the best decision of his career.
Crews was already touted as the best defender and hitter at his position, and now there’s no question that he is the top overall player in college baseball in 2023. Based on what he’s been able to do since the season began — it’s hard to argue with that.
