WATCH: Former Florida basketball star Patric Young provides update after accident
Former Florida basketball star Patric Young suffered a rollover accident while visiting his wife’s hometown in Nebraska last month, leaving him hospitalized in South Dakota after a transport. Now, the player turned analyst is providing an update on his status via social media as he continues to work his way back into health.
In a video posted on Twitter, Young is seen wearing a back brace in a wheelchair. He informs all his followers and fans that he is ready to be released from his current location and will travel to Denver, Colorado to continue rehab after ringing the bell for outgoing patients.
As everyone in the building offers a round of applause for Young as he sounds the chimes, it signals another step in his recovery.
Authorities say in addition to the accident itself, the fact Young was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of impact likely played a roll in the resulting injuries. While a passenger was with him in the truck, there was “no indication” of injuries in the police report from the single-car accident.
