Two days after he decommitted from Florida, Flower Mound (Texas) quarterback Nick Evers has picked up another SEC offer from Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin.
Evers is the No. 125 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the country’s No. 8 quarterback and the No. 24 prospect in Texas.
On3 ranks him higher as the No. 66 overall player and No. 6 quarterback in the 2022 On300 rankings.
He decommitted from Florida on Tuesday after meeting with new head coach Billy Napier, who replaced Dan Mullen. Evers committed to Mullen’s staff in March, but according to GatorsOnline, the family had questions about the direction of the program under Napier.
Evers posted the following statement on his Twitter account.
“With the heaviest of hearts, after much prayer and discussion with those closest to me, I have decided to decommit from the University of Florida. I’m so thankful to Coach [Dan] Mullen and Coach [Garrick] McGee who gave me the opportunity to attend UF. Additionally, I want to thank Coach [Billy] Napier for allowing me to be a small part of his vision. Mostly, I want to thank Gator Nation – you have welcomed us and my heart will forever belong to this special place! Florida deserves greatness & I wish nothing but blessings to you all! Hoping to find my new path…quickly. My Recruitment is now Open!”

Ole Miss not the only school after Nick Evers
After his decommitment, Evers picked up an offer from Oklahoma, where Ole Miss offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby was just hired to the same position. Lebby had an in-home visit with Evers on Wednesday night where he offered Evers a scholarship, sources told On3’s National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton. A day later, Evers scheduled an official visit to Norman for this weekend, the last before next week’s early signing period.
Neither Ole Miss nor Oklahoma currently have quarterbacks committed for the 2022 cycle. Kiffin and Co. have pursued a number of high-profile decommits, including Devin Brown and Justyn Martin. But the former chose Ohio State, while the latter opted to stay close to home and picked UCLA.
