Four-star defensive lineman Will Norman of Camden (NJ) IMG Academy announced his commitment to Florida Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-5, 290 pounder chose the Gators over Texas A&M, Penn State, LSU, Tennessee, and Auburn.

Norman on why he chose Florida

“What stood out to me was the consistency in their message,” Norman said. “With the staff being fresh, I can see where the growth comes into play and the vision they have in place.”

Strong relationship with coaching staff + Florida’s plan for Will Norman

“I’m closest with coach Napier, coach Spencer and also coach Chaney, as well as the whole D-line room,” Norman said. “I look forward to being used similar to how they are currently using Gervon Dexter, showing versatility as an interior defensive lineman.”

The IMG Academy defensive lineman joins coach Napier and the Gators’ No. 12 class in the 2023 team rankings.

Will Norman Scouting Summary

“Fluid defensive lineman who is relatively new to football. Measured at 6-foot-4, 296-pounds in February of 2022, but has since leaned up heading into his senior season,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Has average length with 32.5-inch arms. A converted basketball player who made the move to IMG from St. Thomas More High School in Connecticut prior to his junior season.”

“A fluid, coordinated mover. Lines up as a big defensive end and at defensive tackle for IMG. Has the functional athleticism and coordination to develop into an effective interior pass rusher. Still developing with his technique and is inexperienced relative to most other blue-chip defensive linemen at this stage. Older for the cycle, turning 18 years-old in January of 2022.”

Norman currently ranks as the No. 156 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting services. He also tabs in as the No. 18 defensive lineman, and the No. 36 player in the state of Florida.
