Four-Star IOL Roderick Kearney flips from FSU to Florida
Four-star interior offensive lineman Roderick Kearney of Orange Park (Fla.) High flipped his commitment from Florida State to Florida Monday night.
The 6-foot-4, 285 pounder had been committed to the Seminoles since June.
Kearney on why he chose Florida
“Florida just felt right,” Kearney said. “ It feels like home from the coaching staff, my future teammates, to the whole atmosphere. Florida is also closer to home, and I feel like it was the better choice for me and my family. Florida also has a great program for school.”
Relationship with coaching staff + Florida is on the rise
“My relationship with the coaching staff is amazing,” Kearney said. “I really can’t say who I’m closest to, but I have a great relationship with a majority of the staff. Also, I already know that coach Napier and the staff have a great plan to succeed in the future with the amount of like minded and talented recruits he’s bringing in.”
The Sunshine State offensive lineman joins coach Napier and the Gators’ top 10 class in the 2023 team rankings. He is accompanied by Kelby Collins, Aidan Mizell, and others.

Roderick Kearney Scouting Summary
“Flashes the athleticism of a dominant guard that plays with a mean streak,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Added over 40 pounds between his sophomore and junior off-seasons. Possesses a dense build with the necessary frame to carry more than the sufficient weight in college. Initial burst and overall athleticism flashes off the screen. Looks to finish defenders down in and down out and plays angry. Need to see more work in pass protection but has the foot speed and overall athleticism to hone the craft. Plays right tackle on film but projects to kick inside at the next level due to girth and ability to move people with ease.”
Kearney ranks as the No. 136 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts all four major recruiting services. He also tabs in as the No. 9 interior offensive lineman and the No. 31 player in the state of Florida.
