Four-Star Wide Receiver Jayden Gibson decommits from Florida
Winter Orange (Fla.) West Orange four-star wide receiver Jayden Gibson tells On3 he has decommitted from Florida. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Gibson had been committed to the Gators since October, but the firing of head coach Dan Mullen shook up his recruitment.
Gibson sent the following statement regarding his decommitment to On3:
It saddens me to announce this, but after long thought, prayer, and events that have transpired recently, I have decided to de-commit from the University of Florida. Thank you and I wish them the best of luck. I want to thank the Gator faithful for their undying love and support as well as Coach Mullen, Coach Billy G , and the rest of the past UF staff who believed in me and blessed me with the opportunity to play for them. Thank you to all my supporters, family, and friends for continuing to show love. With that being said I’m looking to find a new home ASAP and my recruitment is open!
The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry generated average, currently ranks Jayden Gibson as the nation’s No. 107 overall prospect, the No. 17 wide receiver, and the No. 16 player in the state of Florida for 2022.
Florida is now down to eight commitments in the 2022 class with a week until the Early Signing Period begins.
Turbulent week for Florida
The Florida Gators have now suffered a total of three decommitments this week. On Tuesday, both four-star quarterback Nick Evers and four-star wide receiver Chandler Smith backed off their pledges to the Gators. In total, UF has had 11 decommitments this recruiting cycle, which is common during coaching changes.
