Jac Caglianone has done it again. Well, not quite. At least in the sense that he has never hit a home run quite as far as he did on Tuesday night.

But, boy, did Caglianone blast the heck out of a baseball in a game against the Florida A&M Rattlers.

In the bottom of the seventh inning in a one-run game, Caglianone stepped to the plate. He took a 1-0, one-out pitch over the bottom inside portion of the plate and dug down deep to barrel it out over the right field wall.

It left his bat at a whopping 115 miles per hour and traveled an estimated 491 feet.

That makes it not only the longest home run for Jac Caglianone so far, it makes it one of the longest home runs in baseball period. According to Jacob Rudner of 247Sports, the home run would be tied for 15th furthest in the Statcast era among Major League bombs.

Caglianone has previously hit some monsters, too. He blasted a 480-foot home run against Missouri in his freshman season.

The Florida slugger has come alive in recent weeks after a bit of a slow start — by his standards hitting dingers only, we stress — to the 2024 campaign. Caglianone’s bomb on Tuesday night was his seventh in the last nine games.

He’s chasing some serious school history, too.

Jac Caglianone’s home run on Tuesday was his 14th of the season, just five off the national lead going into the night (Charlie Condon, Georgia: 19). It was the 54th of his career, which ranks fifth all-time in Florida school history.

Former Gators that have more home runs than Caglianone currently include Matt LaPorta (74), Preston Tucker (57), Jud Fabian (56) and Brad Wilkerson (55). Caglianone recently passed JJ Schwarz (50), Wyatt Langford (47) and Mike Zunino (47).

After Caglianone’s bomb, Florida was looking to hold onto the midweek win over Florida A&M, which hasn’t been the team’s strength this season. Florida was just 3-5 in midweek games this season going into the night.

The Gators managed to do just that, though, winning 10-7 on the evening. Next up for the team is a three-game series at Missouri.
