Jason Marshall injury: Florida cornerback heads to locker room vs. Kentucky
Florida cornerback Jason Marshall was helped to the locker room after suffering an injury Saturday against Kentucky. Cameras captured the Gators senior being escorted off the field by a pair of trainers with 8:34 remaining in the third quarter as Florida led 27-20.
It’s unclear when the injury occurred, but medical staff was seen looking at Marshall’s right shoulder. Marshall had recorded two tackles and a quarterback hurry prior to his exit.
Marshall has been a key piece for Florida’s secondary this season with 18 tackles, four passes defended and a forced fumble. He had played in all six games so far after starting each of the past three seasons.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that he will be able to return to this game. Marshall was later spotted on the sidelines with his arm in a sling and wearing street clothes.
Florida would go on to win 48-20 against Kentucky to improve to 4-3 (2-2 SEC) on the season. After their bye, the Gators move on to face No. 5 Georgia in Jacksonville on Nov. 2.

Billy Napier credits freshmen DJ Lagway, Jadan Baugh for stepping up in win vs. Kentucky
With injuries to its veterans, Florida relied on a couple of freshmen to lead it to victory against Kentucky on Saturday. Quarterback DJ Lagway and running back Jadan Baugh stepped into starting roles with Graham Mertz and Montrell Johnson out and helped the Gators cruise to a dominant 48-20 win.
Florida scored 21 unanswered points to end the game, turning a one-touchdown lead into an eventual four-score win. Speaking with SEC Network postgame, coach Billy Napier had praise for the way both Lagway and Baugh rose to the occasion.
“It’s exciting to see some of that hard work is paying off,” he said. “Our personnel department, our on-campus recruiting, the staff. Some of those young players are really good. Both those kids are incredible people, too. Humble, talented and stepped up. We’re without Graham. We’re without Montrell. Not only did they play well, they were lights out.”
