Kingsley Eguakun excited to play Florida State: 'I don't like those guys at all'

Florida Gators offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun didn’t mince words when it comes to the Florida State Seminoles.

The Gators have a bunch of difficult opponents on their schedule, but it’s evident they’ve already circled their game against the Seminoles as a must-win. At SEC Media Days in Nashville, Eguakun elaborated on how excited Florida is to take on Florida State this season.

“Most challenging opponent. I don’t really know who the most challenging opponent would be, to be honest. I know everybody works pretty hard. But I can tell you who I’m most excited to play is FSU,” stated Eguakun. “I don’t like those guys at all. I’m excited to go after them, for sure.”

While Florida has won three of the last four showdowns with Florida State, the Seminoles got the upper-hand last season in Tallahassee. Mike Norvell’s team defeated Billy Napier’s squad by a score of 45-38, and it’s stuck with the Gators ever since.

This season, the Seminoles are getting College Football Playoff hype. If Florida is to beat them, it could knock Florida State out of the hunt, raising the stakes in this classic rivalry.

Regardless, there’s bad blood as always between Florida and Florida State, and it’s going to be epic on Nov. 25 when these two teams face off again. Kingsley Eguakun can’t wait, and neither can we.

Ricky Pearsall reveals Florida has series against Florida State circled on the calendar

Continuing, Florida finished the 2022 season 6-7, the second straight year the program had finished with that record. And after taking back the annual series against Florida State in recent years, Florida fell in a hard-fought contest last fall.

It was the first win in the series for the Seminoles in five years. You can bet the Gators are already itching for revenge.

“I’m speaking from Florida, but Florida State’s obviously the one that we have circled,” receiver Ricky Pearsall said at SEC Media Days. “I feel like every guy in the locker room has that game circled.”

While it was Florida’s Anthony Richardson who emerged as a top-5 NFL Draft pick, it was Florida State’s Jordan Travis who took the victory in Tallahassee, Fla. Travis was instrumental in the win, escaping contain and making several key plays on third down.

Finding a way to stop him will have to be high on the priority list for the Gators, who are likely to enter as significant underdogs against an anticipated top-10 Seminoles squad.

Pearsall’s also looking forward to another game outside of the series against Florida State.

“Another game I have circled is LSU, too, as well because my old quarterback Jayden Daniels goes there,” he said. “It’ll be fun. He plays this cool guy. He’s really a good cat. He’s an open book, in my opinion. Not a lot of people know that about him.”
