At SEC Media Days Florida Gators offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun set a bold goal for the Gators in 2023, to win the SEC East.

As Eguakun explained, he has a lot of goals but none are more important than winning the SEC East.

“I got a lot of personal goals,” Kingsley Eguakun said. “But let me start with we want to win the SEC East. Obviously, I want to win the Rimington Award. I want to get drafted high, all that good stuff.”

Winning the SEC East is going to be a tall task for Florida in 2023. The Gators are coming off a difficult 6-7 season with just a 3-5 SEC record. Standing in their way are teams like Georgia and Tennessee. On top of that, Florida also needs to play LSU from the West. For many, the type of season Florida needs to win the SEC East would be a massive surprise.

Still, Kingsley Eguakun explained that his primary personal goal is to win games. Anything else would be extra for him in 2023.

“But my main personal goal is I want to win games. That’s bottom line. I don’t like losing. I really hate losing more than I like winning, to be honest with you. I just want to win games,” Eguakun said.

“If none of that other stuff comes, but we win all our games, I’m a happy camper.”

Even if Florida falls short of this goal to win the SEC East, there are already a lot of eyes on Kingsley Eguakun. That includes Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy, who praised the talented lineman.

“Eguakun is good zone run game fit because he’s quick out of his stance, stays attached working laterally, and productive at second-level,” Nagy tweeted. “His long wingspan (81 1/4) is also huge benefit in pass pro for center spot. Eguakun thought about leaving as junior last year but smartly returned for another year of development under highly respected OL Coach Rob Sale and assistant Darnell Stapleton.”

Kingsley Eguakun is excited to play Florida State

One thing that Kingsley Eguakun is excited to do is take on Florida State this season. This comes a season after Florida lost to the Seminoles in a 45-38 thriller.

“Most challenging opponent. I don’t really know who the most challenging opponent would be, to be honest. I know everybody works pretty hard. But I can tell you who I’m most excited to play is FSU,” Eguakun said. “I don’t like those guys at all. I’m excited to go after them, for sure.”
