Las Vegas sets Florida win total odds at 7.5 for 2022 season
Oddsmakers in Las Vegas seem to like where the Florida Gators are headed, setting the win total for the 2022 season at 7.5 games in the latest update via Vegas Insider. Now led by former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns head coach Billy Napier, the Gators will try to bounce back from a 2-6 record in SEC play.
With Emory Jones’ departure for Arizona State, redshirt sophomore quarterback Anthony Richardson is ready to breakout. The dual-threat Gainesville native is already receiving first-round draft projections.
Oddsmakers had the Gators’ win total at nine games in 2021, which Dan Mullen and his crew did not reach and were subsequently fired. They lost to Alabama early in the season, as expected, but then fell to Kentucky on the road, LSU on the road, Georgia in Jacksonville and South Carolina on the road. A 24-23 overtime loss to Missouri was the final nail in the coffin for Mullen’s tenure at Florida. He was fired before the annual rivalry game versus Florida State.
The Gators have several paths to beat the 7.5-win total but it won’t be easy. For starters, they open the season versus Utah, a preseason top-10 squad. The other non-conference opponents are South Florida, Eastern Washington and Florida State.

Key points in the season will be games versus LSU and Texas A&M. Napier will host the Tigers at home but has to take his guys on the road to face Jimbo Fisher in College Station. They also have to deal with Kentucky and Tennessee, two teams with high expectations, early in the season.
