Leanne Wong loves to put on a show against Arkansas. On Friday, the Florida gymnast recorded a perfect 10 on the uneven bars. Four of her seven career 10s have been against Arkansas.

Wong isn’t limited to the uneven bars. She 5-foot-1 phenom has also notched a perfect score on the vault and beam, as well. This past summer, Wong was part of the United States’ gold medal team at 2023 FIG World Championships, competing in vault, balance beam and floor exercise in the team final.

Fueled by Leanne Wong’s talent, Florida is 5-1 this season and 2-1 in conference play. Now, the team will look to capitalize on Wong’s stunning score to increase their SEC record to 3-1.

Anybody familiar with collegiate gymnastics is familiar with Wong. Last season, Wong put the nation on notice when she earned four All-America honors in the NCAA Championships semifinal competition.

At the events, Wong tied for second in floor exercise (9.9625), seventh in uneven bars (9.9375) and eighth in all-around (39.5625) for first team honors and second-team honors for vault. She was also given three 2023 Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) regular-season All-America honors for her fantastic campaign.

Leanne Wong dominates NIL space

Wong is a winner on and off the mats. The gymnastics icon has capitalized on her NIL rights to market and sell thousands of units of custom merchandise. Her entrepreneurial spirit, family support and gymnastics success led to her retail success. But the origin story of her burgeoning business also involves a high school elective course.

Wong said when she attended Blue Valley High School in Overland Park, Kansas, she didn’t receive academic credit for physical education for competing in gymnastics outside of school.

Instead of receiving an equivalency credit for gymnastics, Wong said she enrolled in a number of electives. This includes fashion and interior design, where one project required students to design an outfit, then physically create one element of the outfit.

“I feel like the bow is probably the easiest to make out of everything compared to like shoes, leggings or a shirt or something,” Wong told On3. “So, that’s where my first bow came to life. I just started wearing it every day to practice and thought it was really cool.

“But then I was like I should make more colors. Because I’m that kind of person who likes to match from head to toe. So, I decided to make more colors to match every practice (leotard) and competition leo.”

In September 2023, Wong said she has sold roughly 10,000 bows since December 2021, plus nearly 900 units of her three signature leotards from GK Elite. With performances like the one on Friday evening, Wong will only see her sales continue to grow.
