Florida Gators senior tight end Kemore Gamble announced a big decision on his future on Wednesday. The Miami native is opting to enter the NCAA transfer portal instead of looking towards the NFL Draft.

Gamble, 6-foot-4, 243 pounds, has one year of eligibility remaining. He finished the 2021 season as the Florida Gators’ third-leading receiver. He posted 31 receptions for 414 yards and four touchdowns.

“I have a huge opportunity to enter the 2022 NFL Draft. But after lots of prayer and talking with my parents and loved ones, I have decided to enter the transfer portal for my last year of eligibility,” Gamble wrote in a Twitter post.

“As much as it hurts to leave the University of Florida, I feel this is the best decision for me right now. I look forward to the opportunities ahead but I will always be a Florida Gator.”

Over his four years in Gainesville, Gamble had 48 receptions, 632 yards and seven scores. He committed to the Gators out of Miami Southridge High School. He had 17 Division-I offers including Alabama and Miami.

Gamble enters booming NCAA transfer portal

The NCAA Transfer Portal, which covers every NCAA sport at the Division I, II and III levels, is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.

The process of entering the portal goes through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request.

Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship is no longer valid. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school does not have to reoffer a scholarship.
