Michigan transfer punter Tommy Doman officially committed to the Florida Gators on Friday evening, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. Florida landed one of the nation’s top punters. Doman changed his Instagram page on late Thursday to indicate he was committing to the Gators. And multiple media sites shared the news on Friday afternoon.

Doman entered the portal as a graduate transfer on December 6th. He’ll spend his final college season in Gainesville after spending four years with the Wolverines. He redshirted his freshman campaign, before playing four games as a sophomore in 2022 during his time in Ann Arbor. He also was a placekicker and punter for the Wolverines during the 2022 season.

During his junior season, Doman punted, kicked off, was the holder for all 15 games during their run to the 2023 National Championship. He averaged 44.3 yards per punt, to along with a long of 71-yards on 53 punts. Doman earned third team All-Big Ten honors at the end of the season.

During the 2024 campaign, the 6-4 punter saw his numbers drop a little bit, averaging 42.6 yards per punt. The Florida coaching staff remained high on Doman’s services as a one-year option, despite being high on the potential of Hayden Craig, a three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. Craig was also tabbed as the No. 6 punter in America, according to those same rankings.

Craig was scouted by the Gators’ coaching staff and is from Mercier, Quebec, Canada. That’s been a trend in college football for several years now, for coaches to find kickers/punters from a number of different countries outside the USA.

Doman is one of the first additions for the Florida Gators in this version of the transfer portal cycle. Billy Napier has insisted the program will evaluate more players than ever before, due to the changes in legislation that allow schools to host unlimited transfer prospects in December. Currently, Doman is ranked as the No. 9 punter in the On3 2025 Transfer Portal Punter Rankings.
