NBA Draft analyst suggests Florida big Alex Condon could be first-round prospect
It’s not often you hear about a player who only had three Division I offers out of high school emerging as a bona-fide potential NBA Draft pick. Then again, Florida‘s Alex Condon isn’t like most players.
The 6-foot-11, 230-pound prospect from Perth, Australia, has quietly become one of the SEC’s best big men.
He was named the SEC Co-Player of the Week on Monday, taking home an honor that won’t be his last if he continues on the current trajectory. One NBA Draft analyst even sees Condon clawing his way into the first-round conversation.
“Alex Condon plays an integral role for Florida on both ends of the floor, triggering their offense with his outstanding feel for the game while wreaking havoc defensively with his mobility, motor and versatility,” wrote Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony on Twitter. “Is it time to start talking about him as a first round prospect?”
It just might be.
Alex Condon has displayed a rare feel for the game for a big man, stuffing the stat sheet in virtually every category as a do-it-all big man for the Gators.

His ability to dribble the length of the floor is reminiscent of the days when Al Horford and Joakim Noah plied their trade on the hardwood in orange and blue. His passing? Similar.
The sophomore star has now started all 16 games for the Gators, who are ranked as a top-10 team nationally. Condon is averaging 11.0 points and 8.1 rebounds. He’s also dished out 36 assists, blocked 26 shots and forced seven steals.
That’s pretty good productivity for a big man.
On the season, Alex Condon has recorded three double-doubles. They’ve all come in the last five games, too, including a pair of them in the last two outings.
Florida is set to take on Missouri on Tuesday night in a game that tips off at 9 p.m. ET. That’ll give you the next chance to check out Florida’s versatile threat in the frontcourt, a guy who just might be in the NBA ranks sooner than later.
