Less than a month into her freshman season, Olivia Miller is already making history with the Florida softball program.

Miller tossed her second perfect game of the season on Saturday afternoon against Lafayette College, becoming the first player in Florida softball history to throw two perfect games in a season.

Olivia Miller previously threw a perfect game in a 16-0 win against Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 11.

The Gators beat Lafayette College 8-0 on Saturday to improve to 13-2 on the year. Florida is also set to play Colgate on Saturday.

The Orlando native Miller improved to 3-0 on the year with the victory. She allowed one run each in games against Illinois State and Colgate but has otherwise held opponents scoreless.

Prior to coming to Gainesville, Miller attended Bishop Moore Catholic School.

Olivia Miller was named the SEC Freshman of the Week following her perfect game earlier this season.

She became the first Florida freshman in school history to throw a perfect game against Bethune-Cookman. It was just the eighth-overall complete-game perfect game.

The lefty retired all 15 batters she faced that day in Florida’s 16-0 run-rule win. She recorded outs in a variety of ways, getting five strikeouts, five groundouts and five flyouts on just 50 pitches.

Miller became the first Florida freshman to earn Freshman of the Week honors since 2022. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she is honored again after tossing another perfect game on Saturday.

The Gators entered this weekend’s action ranked as high as No. 14 and could move up in the rankings if they have a strong close to the weekend.

Florida finished last year with a 38-22 record. The Gators advanced to the NCAA Tournament, before falling to Stanford. The Cardinal went on to advance to the Women’s College World Series.

While Florida didn’t reach the Women’s College World Series last year, they have plenty of times before.

The Gators have reached the WCWS 11 times since 2008, including most recently in 2022. Florida won the national title in 2014 and 2015.

The Gators are led by head coach Tim Walton. He has been the head coach at Florida since 2006, building the program up to elite status. Walton has won two national titles, five SEC Tournament championships, eight SEC regular season titles and five SEC East titles. He has also been named the SEC Coach of the Year on five separate occasions.
