For the longest time, the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine indicated Alabama was the team to beat for Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Cormani McClain of Lakeland (Fla.) Lake Gibson.

That’s still true at this point. But the On3 RPM is signaling the Florida Gators are starting to trend heavily with McClain.

According to the On3 RPM, Alabama’s lead has shrunk to 42.2%. Florida is now at 30.9%, followed by Miami at 14.% and Georgia at 8.3%. Florida has climbed 10% in the past few weeks, largely due to heavy push from the Gators’ coaches.

That, and an impressive unofficial visit this past weekend, has things going in the right direction for the Gators.

“From my perspective, there are a couple of things that stand out to me,” McClain’s mother, Kaishay McClain, told On3’s GatorsOnline after the visit.

“I’m not going to lie. The coaches. They are building a new facility. That stood out. They are also family-oriented. I see the fan base is explosive. I was looking at the different comments from the different visits that I did, and yeah, their fan base is amazing. I’m like, ‘Wow.’”

On3 expert likes UF’s chances with Cormani McClain

While Alabama technically is in the lead in the On3 RPM, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons believes Florida is in a great spot on Cormani McClain’s list.

“Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State are the schools I hear the most about,” Simmons said. “You can’t count Miami out. He was just at Florida. The Gators could be the favorite at this stage.”

Cormani McClain is ranked as a five-star cornerback and the No. 3 player in the country, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also ranked as the No. 1 player in the Sunshine State, according to the On3 Consensus.

On3 ranks McClain similarly to others in the industry. He ranks as the No. 4 player in the On300 and as the second-best player in the Sunshine State.

Cormani McClain currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $57,000. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time. McClain ranks No. 38 in the High School Football NIL Rankings.
