Four-star offensive tackle Caden Jones of Gretna (LA) De La Salle High announced his commitment to Florida Saturday afternoon.

The 6-foot-8, 300 pounder chose the Gators over Texas A&M and Houston.

Jones on why he chose Florida

“You know just the feeling I get when I’m down there, especially with some of the coaches coming from Louisiana it just made talking to them so much easier. Then when I went on the official visit talking to the players and other recruits it felt like I knew them for years. Also I feel like the two offensive line coach systems have great things in store because of what they did in the run game this year and this was just their first year. I also feel like being coached and developed by coach Stapleton and coach Sale, Ican become the lineman I want to be.”

Caden Jones Scouting Summary

“Gargantuan athlete whose potential is through the roof due to his size and athleticism. Absurd measurables for a high school tackle prospect. Stands in at 6-foot-7.5, 300 pounds with 36-inch arms. Jumped an extremely impressive 30-inch vertical during the summer camp circuit prior to his senior season. Raw positional traits due to only playing the game when he started high school. Basketball player who shows his body control and balance on the hardwood and the gridiron. Needs to clean up his footwork in pass protection. Plays with poor leverage but has the bend to improve it. Lacks pop in his hands which should improve as he gets stronger. Extremely raw prospect but has all the tools to be as good as he wants to be. On the younger end of the spectrum for the 2023 recruiting cycle.”

Jones ranks as the No. 436 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 27 offensive tackle and the No. 17 player in the state of Louisiana.
