Rising Nick Evers tops Florida recruits in updated On300 rankings
Florida is once again one of the elite programs in the country after a small blip, and its recruiting at a similar level.
The team has a class of 14 recruits, including five in the updated On300 rankings that were released Tuesday.
The team’s top recruit is one of the biggest risers in the On300: Flower Mound (Texas) High quarterback Nick Evers. Evers jumped 89 slots, the most out of any quarterback in the On300 rankings, from No. 147 to No. 58.
Evers has been great for his senior season, where he has 1071 passings yards, 233 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns. He was injured in last Friday’s game against rival Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus and it is unknown if he will miss any time.
Mobile (Ala.) Faith Academy linebacker Shemar James is the only other Florida commit to rank inside the top 200, slotting in at No. 107.
It has been a wild few months for James, who transferred to a school in Florida only to go back to Mobile (Ala.) Faith Academy two weeks later. James had transferred in hopes of graduating early but he wasn’t going to be eligible to play at his new high school.
Buford (Ga.) High athlete Isaiah Bond (No. 206), Houston Clear Lake cornerback Julian Humphrey (No. 229) and Orlando Bishop Moore Catholic wide receiver Chandler Smith (No. 230) round out Florida’s current On300 recruits for the 2022 cycle.

Florida is not done grabbing On300 talent
Not only is Evers a big-time recruit but he is also good friends of the No. 4 overall recruit, No. 1 wide receiver and top Florida target Evan Stewart out of Frisco (Texas) Liberty. The two have played 7-on-7 together and are both stalwarts in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex high school football scene.
Evers has openly admitted to pushing his buddy towards Gainesville and doing anything he can to get Stewart to be a Gator.
No. 6 overall recruit Walter Nolen is also in play for the Gators. He did not include Florida on his top three in August but he tweeted after an unofficial visit earlier this month that he can imagine himself playing in The Swamp.
Other On300 recruits Florida is in still in play for include Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage cornerback Earl Little Jr. (No. 26), Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas offensive tackle Julian Armella (No. 262) and Boonville (Mo.) High EDGE DJ Wesolak (No. 135).
