Orlando (Fla.) Edgewater four-star running back and Texas commit Cedric Baxter Jr. is planning on making the trip up to Gainesville to watch Florida take on Utah in their highly anticipated Week 1 matchup, GatorsOnline’s Corey Bender has confirmed.

Baxter is ranked as the No. 47 overall recruit and No. 4 running back in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3 ranks him the best among the nation’s running back recruits, slotting him in at No. 28 in the 2023 On300 ranking.

The Gators were one of Baxter’s top four teams before he committed to the Longhorns last month. But Florida has not halted its pursuit of the running back despite the Texas pledge.

GatorsOnline also reported that offensive line coach Darnell Stapleton will be at Baxter’s game tonight.

Baxter is currently a key part of the 2023 Longhorns recruiting class than ranks fifth in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking. He is one of five On3 Consensus top-50 recruit with New Orleans Isidore Newman Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Arch Manning, New Iberia (La.) Westgate four-star safety Derek Williams, DeSoto (Texas) four-star wide receiver Johntay Cook II and Dallas South Oak Cliff four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $208k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
