Tim Tebow is a Hall of Famer. The former Florida quarterback found out on the air Monday he was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot.

Tebow was on the air during ESPN’s “Championship Drive” when Joe Tessitore told him the news. Steve Hatchell, the president of the National Football Foundation, was on hand to present Tebow with his Hall of Fame football.

“Did you guys plan this?” Tebow joked.

“Honestly, it’s just so humbling,” Tebow said after receiving the honor. “Thank you. So many people were a huge part of this. … This is a humbling award, but this goes to all of my teammates that I got the chance to play with.”

Tebow is the 10th Florida player to go into the Hall of Fame and is the seventh Gator to be inducted since 2006. His career in Gainesville included a Heisman Trophy, two national championships and a BCS national championship game MVP award.

During his four years with Florida, Tebow threw for 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns as he became a first-round draft pick of the Denver Broncos in the 2010 NFL Draft. He played in the league from 2010-15 before attempting to come back as a tight end for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021. He currently works as an analyst for SEC Network.

College Football Hall of Fame announces 2023 class

Just hours before legends were made in the national championship game, the College Football Hall of Fame announced its 2023 class. Twenty-two different people can now call themselves Hall of Famers, spanning across the country. In total, 18 players and four coaches will now forever be inducted in Atlanta, Ga.

Some of the biggest names to ever play in the sport are a part of the ’23 class, including two Heisman Trophy winners. Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow had a special moment with his ESPN colleagues at SoFi Stadium during pregame coverage. USC’s Reggie Bush will be inducted as well after his memorable run in Los Angeles in the early 2000s.
