On Saturday, Baylor kept its postseason hopes alive with a 5-2 win over Florida in Game 2 of the Gainesville Regional. During an in-game interview in Game 3, Florida head coach Tim Walton revealed how his team took the loss in stride.

“I felt like we were pretty good yesterday. We just got beat,” Walton said. “We didn’t play as well as we’re playing right now. Obviously, it’s a seven-inning game for a reason. But, I feel like we played pretty good the last couple of days, as far as the temperature is concerned. Obviously, we got some bad luck in [the third inning] but, overall, I feel pretty good.”

Florida burst out of the starting gate in Game 3, securing a 4-0 lead in only two innings. Florida freshman Mia Williams led the charge for the Gators, crushing a two-run shot in the bottom of the second inning. The pivotal hit was Williams’ first of the postseason.

Florida had a chance to extend its lead in the botton of third inning after loading the bases with only one out, but failed to score a run. Tim Walton and Co. won’t have time to ruminate on their mistake.

The winner of Game 3 will advance to the Women’s College World Series to play in a double-elimination style tournament for a chance at the national championship. Florida has not won the national title since 2015.
