Urban Klavzar eligibility: Todd Golden announces change in status for Gators guard
Florida will have another player available going forward, as the NCAA has granted clearance to Slovenian combo guard Urban Klavzar.
Klavzar reportedly impressed during the team’s preseason preparations and could make an immediate impact for the top-25 program off the bench. He will reportedly play against Florida State on Friday night.
At the 2024 U20 EuroBasket, Urban Klavzar averaged 16.1 points per game and shot 38.3% from 3-point range.
Klavzar has also had some more senior national team experience. He appeared in six FIBA championships. While playing with the Slovenian senior national team during the 2023 FIBA World Cup European Qualifiers, he averaged 7.3 points (across four games).
He also averaged 8.9 points and 1.3 assists across 33 appearances for CD Estela Cantabria in Spain’s second division, Primera FEB.
With Florida, Urban Klavzar is expected to be a strong perimeter shooter who can help stretch the floor.

The Gators already have a pretty talented backcourt, led by the likes of Walter Clayton Jr. Through three games, Clayton Jr. is leading the team in scoring at 16.7 points per game, while also dishing out 4.3 assists per contest.
But fellow guards Will Richard (16.0 PPG) and Alijah Martin (12.3 PPG) also offer some serious punch in the backcourt.
They’re complemented by a front line that will roll deep and lengthy. Alex Condon (15.3 PPG, 4.7 RPG), Sam Alexis (9.3 PPG, 6.0 RPG), Rueben Chinyelu (7.3 PPG, 4.3 RPG) and Thomas Haugh (4.3 PPG, 5.3 RPG) will soak up the bulk of the minutes there.
Urban Klavzar and Florida entered the season ranked No. 21 in the AP Top 25 and has since risen one spot to No. 20.
