Elite 2024 CB Wardell Mack commits to Florida
Elite 2024 cornerback Wardell Mack of Marrero (LA) John Ehret announced his commitment to Florida Monday morning.
The 6-foot-1, 180 pounder chose the Gators over LSU, Texas, and Florida State.
“On my official visit in April I saw it was a great place, with great people trying to put the pieces together to put Florida back on the map,” Mack said. “Just having a sit down with coach Corey (Raymond) and his work through the years. Also, having Louisiana native coaches puts a plus on everything.”
His relationship with the coaching staff and their plan for him played a role in his decision as well.
“Coach Armstrong made it clear that I’m a great player that he wants on his defense, and feels as though I’m savvy enough to play corner and nickel in the defense. Coach Juluke and coach Napier have made me feel at home every time I stepped foot in Gainesville.”
The Bayou State cornerback joins coach Billy Napier and the Gators’ top 5 class in the 2024 team rankings. He is accompanied by five-star safety Xavier Filsaime, five-star quarterback DJ Lagway, and others.

Scouting Summary
On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:
“Smooth moving defensive back with the length and playmaking ability to make an impact as a cornerback or safety. Measured in at around 6-foot-0.5, 170 pounds prior to his senior season. Has elite length for the position with arms that measure 33.75 inches. Shows the ability to stick with receivers, using his length and movement skills to stay in-phase. Physical in press coverage, using his length to reroute receivers at the line of scrimmage. Shows loose hips and is fluid when changing directions. Has refined footwork with a very smooth backpedal in the camp setting. A willing downhill defender, not scared of contact or being physical as a tackler. Shows solid top-end speed, but does not look to be top-tier in that regard. Ball skills are good, not great, as he does not look to be the most natural pass catcher. Is still comfortable playing the ball at the catch point, getting his hands on the football. Viewed as a high floor prospect who could see an immediate role as a nickel corner at the next level and eventually developing into a field corner. Relatively young for the class, turning 18 in April of his senior year of high school.”
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $109K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
