Tampa (Fla.) Gaither four-star wide receiver Eugene Wilson III is heading into his senior season as one of the top wideouts in the country. He is the No. 140 overall prospect and No. 22 wide receiver in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 rates him even higher as the No. 62 overall prospect and No. 10 wide receiver, per the 2023 On300.

Wilson III started off his final year of high school football strong, reeling in a long touchdown on his first catch of the season. The 5-foot-11, 162 pond wide receiver caught a pass in open space, evaded a defender and raced to his left all the way to the end zone.

Wilson III soon added another touchdown. Per On3’s Corey Bender, he made an “impressive double move downfield to break free. Very difficult to contain one-on-one.”

Only two prospects are currently ranked ahead of Wilson III in Florida’s 2023 recruiting class. He is also one of five wide receivers in the Gators’ class alongside Orlando (Fla.) Boone four-star wide receiver Aidan Mizell, Miami Northwestern four-star wide receiver Andy Jean, Gainesville (Fla.) F. W. Buchholz three-star wide receiver Creed Whittemore and Eustis (Fla.) three-star wide receiver Tyree Patterson.

Wilson III has an On3 NIL Valuation of $120K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Eugene Wilson III On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Eugene Wilson III:

“Silky smooth mover at receiver with elite change of direction skills. Looks line of the quicker and more fluid receivers in the cycle. Had an illuminating performance at the Under Armour Next Miami Camp in the spring prior to his senior season. Has the skills to consistently separate against top corners. Possesses elite change of direction and short area quickness, which shows up in his route-running, which is among the best in the cycle.

“Also has verified top-end speed with an electronically-timed sub-4.5 40-yard dash. A bit of a late-bloomer physically, having grown an inch in his junior year. Could also play defense. Can continue to improve his production at the high school level. Father Eugene Wilson starred at Illinois and won two Super Bowls as a safety for the New England Patriots.”
