Florida baseball got off to a great start in its elimination game against Central Michigan. The Gators led 1-0 heading into the third inning, when Wyatt Langford stepped up to the plate to lead things off.

This bomb from him ensued:

You could call that swing and score by Langford revenge, as he was hit by a pitch his first time up to bad vs. Central Michigan. That homer was his 24th of the season. A few more and the Gator slugger could be rewriting the history books. He just moved into second place of all single season home run hitters.

Langford’s solo shot gave Florida the 2-0 lead in the top of the third in a game they have to win to avoid elimination. The 13th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, Florida is hosting its own regional in Gainesville and needs to win three straight to advance.

Langford hits ANOTHER home run

What a day for Wyatt Langford. The Chippewas hit him with a pitch during his first at bat. Then, he blasted solo home runs in his next two at bats. The second of the two was a dead shot to center field which he banked off of Gainesville’s own green monster.

Langford now has 25 homers this year and is comfortably in second place for the single season home run record. Heading into the matchup with Central Michigan, Langford hits .350 overall with 85 hits and a .443 on base percentage. Heck of a hitter for the Florida Gators. One of the primary reasons for their strong offense throughout the 2022 season.

His long balls have helped Florida out to a 4-0 lead in the first four-and-a-half innings. Gators seem to be in good position.

You can catch the game on the SEC Network. If the Gators win, they’ll play again Sunday night and then on Monday in a two-game series with Oklahoma. It’s win or go home. Or more like, win or stay home.
