Seffner (Fla.) Armwood four-star cornerback Jaelen Waters, class of 2026, has decommitted from Florida State, he announced Thursday afternoon on social media.

Waters had been a member of the Seminoles’ class since he committed on April 23.

“I would like to thank FSU for the opportunity to further my education & football career,” Waters posted on social media. “But after much reflection & consideration, I’ve decided to re-open my recruitment.”

Waters is the nation’s No. 143 overall prospect, No. 11 cornerback and No. 27 recruit from Florida in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He ranks No. 155 overall in the 2026 On300.

Florida State currently holds commitments from three prospects in the 2026 class, and still rank No. 1 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings following Waters’ decommitment.

The Seminoles have pledges from Vero Beach (Fla.) top-50 athlete Efrem White, Tampa Gaither four-star athlete Darryon Williams and Miami Barbara Goleman Senior four-star safety Darryl Bell.

Williams is now the most recent commit for the Noles.

“I’ve been to several schools over the past two years and this just felt like home!! Coaching staff was what I was looking for and a great education,” Williams told On3’s Steve Wiltfong of his decision. “I didn’t want someone trying to pressure me with flashy things and fast talk they just kept it real.”
