5-star FSU TE commit Landen Thomas pitch to recruits: 'Why not come be a part of that'
Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County five-star tight end Landen Thomas flipped from Georgia to Florida State back in April, and has stated that his recruitment is shut down.
Now, the focus is on building one of the best recruiting classes in the nation while the current Florida State roster looks to put together a national championship run.
Thomas spoke with reporters after Colquitt’s 37-20 win over Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County. He said that the message about Florida State is clear and they’re showing it on the field — something is building in Tallahassee.
“I just tell them that they’re building something,” Thomas said. “You can tell now about how they’re playing, so they’re coming back up and they’re going to be another winning team. So I just said why not be a part of that? Then look at the class we’re building. Why not come be a part of that, we’re just building up.”

FSU HC Norvell makes splash with attendance
Multiple Power 5 commits play for Colquitt County, including Thomas, Georgia four-star wide receiver commit Ny Carr and Duke three-star EDGE commit Tyshon Reed. Reed is expected at Florida State’s game this weekend, and Thomas mentioned the conversation he plans to have with Reed on the ride over to Tallahassee about flipping him to the ‘Noles.
Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell visited the star-studded Colquitt County game via helicopter on Friday night.
“That was cool,” Thomas said about Norvell. “He came in and flew in a helicopter just to come watch me play. That was a special thing.”

Thomas gave props to the FSU offensive staff in how they use their tight ends in the passing game. He mentioned his own versatility from playing at outside receiver to the slot, and how the Seminoles employ a similar strategy with their own tight ends.
“They’ve got an explosive offense,” Thomas said. “Probably one of the best receiving and one of the best tight end corps in college football. So I just think they have to just keep going up from here. Keep getting better and better each week.”
Thomas is the nation’s No. 27 overall prospect and No. 1 tight end in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 6 player in Georgia.
Thomas currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $253,000. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
