Alex Lodise: 'We can play with the best'
No. 8 national seed Florida State is set to face, arguably, the best team in college baseball this season in No. 1 overall seed Tennessee on Friday evening at the College World Series. But the Seminoles and star Alex Lodise aren’t shying away from the challenge.
For one, the Seminoles are also one of the best teams in the country, as evidenced by a Top 8 national seed and making it to Omaha. And the confidence for Florida State that they can play and beat the other seven teams in Omaha has less to do with what they see in their opponents, and more to do with what they know about themselves.

“We’re a very confident bunch,” Lodise said. “We know we can play with the best. These are the seven other best teams in the country. We’re here because we can compete with them, and we know that watching them — when you watch other teams play, it’s knowing, like, with our confidence we’re here, and we know we’re capable of playing.”

Lodise’s teammate, Daniel Cantu, echoed his confidence.
“Like Alex said, we are a very confident bunch,” Cantu said. “We feel as if we carry ourselves and feel as if we’re the best in the country, and we know that we can beat anyone if we play our brand of baseball.”
The Seminoles will get a chance to show off that confidence and ability on Friday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. between Florida State and Tennessee.
