Florida State stretched their lead over LSU after an incredible touchdown from Jordan Travis as he was hit in the head by a targeting penalty. Travis delivered a perfect throw into the end zone to receiver Ontaria “Pokey” Wilson who made a brilliant one-handed catch — in the middle of taking a hit directly to his head from LSU defender Ali Gaye.

Jordan Travis delivers touchdown strike despite targeting hit

Travis immediately called for a flag on the play as he felt the hit, and replay shows Gaye leave his feet as he launched himself into Travis. Meanwhile, Wilson was in the end zone making a phenomenal catch of his own for the second Florida State touchdown of the game.

Officials attempted to unravel penalties that occurred during the play, and ultimately there were three separate flags thrown. LSU committed defensive pass interference on the touchdown catch, which was declined by the Seminoles resulting in a confirmed touchdown. Wilson also committed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the score, his first of the game. LSU was also flagged for roughing the passer with a targeting call, which would be upheld after review — resulting in Gaye’s ejection.

Florida State got the last laugh on the game as well as the targeting drive, as they survived a dramatic comeback attempt by LSU — winning the game after blocking an extra point attempt. After both teams turned the ball over in the final minutes of the game, LSU drove 99 yards down the field and scored a touchdown as time expired — setting up an extra point attempt to force overtime.

The Seminoles came up tremendously huge with the game on the line, blocking their second kick of the night and securing the 24-23 win over the Tigers.
