This is certainly one way for Florida State to welcome a potential transfer during a visit.

Former Georgia reserve offensive lineman Amarius Mims is visiting the Seminoles and received a, well, interesting welcome. Mike Norvell and the coaching staff greeted him with the war chant playing from one of the cars.

Talk about leaving your mark on a visit.

Mims entered the transfer portal on Sunday and is the No. 11 transfer in the portal this offseason, according to the On3 Transfer Portal Rankings. Florida State might have had to pull out all the stops, though. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives Miami a 100% chance of landing Mims.

More on Amarius Mims, Florida State

Mims was a reserve offensive lineman for Georgia this past season, but arrived in Athens as a highly touted recruit. Out of high school, he was a five-star prospect and the No. 12 prospect in the country from the Class of 2021, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He played in eight games for the Bulldogs this season as they won their first national title in 40 years, defeating Alabama in January.

Landing Mims would be great for Norvell and Florida State. The Seminoles have the No. 19 recruiting class in the country this year, according to the On3 Consensus Team Rankings, and are bringing in 10 transfers. Among their additions is Mycah Pittman, who’s coming in from Oregon, and former Wisconsin offensive lineman Kayden Lyles. However, Pittman left Florida State’s spring game last week with an apparent injury.

Florida State went 5-7 overall and 3-4 in ACC play in 2021, just missing out on a bowl game. The Seminoles had a chance to punch their ticket to the postseason, but fell to Florida in the last game of the season.
