No. 1 OT Brandon Baker visits Florida State
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star offensive tackle Brandon Baker is visiting numerous schools over the next couple of weeks. One of them is Florida State.
Baker is spending today seeing the Seminoles. He will then travel to Georgia on April 12 and Texas on April 14-15.
The 6-foot-4.5, 285-pound recruit saw Miami, Nebraska and Ohio State in March, as well as Tennessee on March 31 and Michigan on April 7-8. He is returning to the Cornhuskers for their spring game on April 22.
“The visits for me are always crucial,” Baker told On3’s Chad Simmons on March 31. “I get a feeling for the school and overall environment. From there, I look at the full experience as I look to cut down my list after the spring. The visits over spring break should be my last round of visits before I start to narrow things down. I should get down to my top 10 or 11 schools soon.”
Baker is the No. 25 overall prospect and No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 2 player in California.

Florida State currently has a top-10 class
If Florida State is able to land Baker, it would mark a massive recruiting win for head coach Mike Norvell and his staff. So far, the Seminoles have no commitments from offensive tackles in their 2024 recruiting class.
However, Florida State is still off to a fast start this cycle, since its class ranks No. 9 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 1 in the ACC. The Seminoles’ group is led by two top-100 prospects in Albany (Ga.) Dougherty four-star running back Kameron Davis and Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star safety Jordan Pride.
Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star quarterback Luke Kromenhoek, Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar four-star wide receiver Tawaski Abrams, Lake City (Fla.) Columbia three-star wide receiver Camdon Frier and Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy three-star safety CJ Heard are other players currently pledged to Florida State. The Seminoles’ most recent commitment came from Delray Beach (Fla.) three-star linebacker Jayden Parrish on April 3.
